There's just something special about newborn babies. They smell so fresh and new, so tiny, and they are trying to figure out their limbs. The fresh innocence. Love, love, love!
Photographing a newborn and their family is meaningful.
One thing I love to do is create meaningful photos. Newborns are only little once. Capturing beautiful photos of your baby will last you a lifetime. I love that feeling of being able to look back and remember the emotions that comes along with having a new little one in your family. To remember how soft their skin was and their tiny little fingers and toes.
Going with the flow of the baby leads to really authentic photos.
Newborns aren't afraid to share their needs. It's important to me to go with the flow of what your baby needs. Sometimes they become hungry, fussy, or just plain tired and I feel it's best to just go with the flow. Some very tender moments occur during those times, and I love it. Mom holding the baby while he/she eats. Dad holding the little one in his arms and rocking the baby to sleep. Mom and Dad soothing the angry little cries. All of these moments add up to some pretty special memories!
Being a part of the celebration of new life.
There are so many emotions when bringing a newborn into your family. I still remember how much joy and feeling of awe I felt for my own newborns. It was really nice to have family and friends celebrate with us. I can't begin to fathom how difficult it must be with covid, and to not have family and friends celebrate with you in the same way. My heart goes out to all those that have had a very different pregnancy, birth, and new-at-home times affected by the virus. Regardless, I love being part of the celebration so to say, as well as documenting the baby's personality that's already beginning to develop.
