What toWear
I'm asked quite a bit about what to wear to your photo shoot, so here is a guide to give you some basic tips and ideas.
My first piece of advice first of all, is to wear something comfortable. Don't dress youself or kids in clothes that don't fit well. You're going to be playing and laughing and don't want to wish you'd worn something looser or think "why did I not realize my son is too tall for his pants?" (I've done that with my son before... oops!)
Neutral colors are great. I also recommend complimentary colors as pictured below (note: this color scheme was used for Fall). Try not to match everyone in the same color, such as blue jeans for everyone with yellow tops as it can look tacky. Prints or plaids with solids also work very well together!
Most of all - please avoid shirts with graphics and NEON tops (neon tops can actually change the skin tone of your child's face in the photos - crazy, I know!).

Express yourself!
If you like to dress up - go for it! If you prefer to dress down then do that. There is no right or wrong answer in the style of clothes you choose to wear, because I will be focusing on your family's connection. Be who you want to remember. :)

Add layers
Layers can add depth and interest into your photos. A scarf, blazer, or cardigan are some ideas. Pullover vests also do a nice job of adding layers. Layers are great for the cooler months because they help you to stay warm. They can also be achieved in the warmer months with light jackets or tights. Also in the warmer months accessories can add visual interest as well.

Final piece of advice.
It's also very important that if you want a haircut do it at least a week or more before your photo shoot. Sometimes things go wrong and you want to have enough time to fix it or to let the hair grow out a bit more. Don't try a brand new makeup style the day of the session, but stick with something you love and are familiar with. It will help create authenticity in your photos and that's one of our goals! It's just another element in capturing your family's essence.
