Hi friend!
Traditional family photos. What does that even mean? When I think of traditional photos, I think of the old school family picture hanging on the wall with mom sitting on a chair, dad behind her with his hand on her shoulder, and the children arranged around them. Nowadays family photos tend to have a different style to them, but I think you catch my meaning. The basic idea behind traditional photography is that everyone is posed and looking at the camera so as to show their best side. The photos are “perfectly” composed, often have a more formal feel, and the lighting is always spot on. To me, these are the static photos to document what your family looks like at a given time.
Lifestyle on the other hand, and in my opinion, is more of an emotive and interactive style. You’re guided instead of posed. Rarely does anyone look at the camera unless it's by accident. There’s a lot of activity to create interaction between you and your family. That’s what I’m after. How does your family connect with each other? What expression does your child have on their face when you start tickling or chasing them? What do the tender moments look like?
Don’t get me wrong, I’ll definitely provide you with a traditional family photo.
But the rest of the time we’re going to be moving, talking, interacting, laughing, and feeling. That’s one thing I want to capture for you - the ability to feel those tender feelings whenever you see your photos.
Not to look back and think “yep, we did our family photos on schedule that year”, but instead to think “I loved when my child was 4yrs old and although they drove me nuts from time to time, I adore that photo of the laughter we shared and the joy I felt in my heart.”
Book your session so we can begin creating amazing photos for you and your family to treasure. :) I look forward to seeing you soon!
