A Photography dream come true - the Aurora Borealis

Writer: Melissa LynneMelissa Lynne

I have to share about one of the most amazing and profound of my dreams coming true. The last one was to be in the water and hangout with a dolphin. That was *incredible!* Anyway, I got to photograph not only the Aurora Borealis, but I was actually surrounded by it at one point and it was incredible!

I saw with my eyes what kind of looked like a translucent grey cloud from the north to over my head and around to the east. To the naked eye you could tell something was off about the so called grey cloud, it looked different than an actual cloud. It's almost like you could see it pulsate with energy. During this time (yes, I was shooting from 10:30pm - 2:30am!) the colors started out fainter and held a lot of greens.

From there, it magically started picking up purple (my favorite color btw). Then it went NUTS! Like you could see faintly tinted colored pillars that would form. The purples took over my attention but there was still a TON of greens and yellows. Then PINKS started showing up and it just became a bright swirl of color for the camera.

Some of them remind of neon from the 80's. Haha!

Otherwise here are some photos that highlight the progression of the colors.
