Hello friend!
Welcome back -- what a holiday season it’s been. I felt really inspired seeing so many holiday lights up this year. It warmed my heart that although it was a bleak 2020 others were looking for the light in the darkness. Without further ado...
There’s something beautiful about a new life entering this world and the sweet addition to a family.
I want to talk about newborns today. I love them so much! I mean, who doesn’t? I love photographing these precious little ones as it gives me a sense of awe and wonder each. and every. time. There’s something beautiful about a new life entering this world and the sweet addition to a family.
I prefer taking unposed, authentic photos of these little ones.
You know those cutesy photos of babies in baskets, flowers or other such things? We all know them. They are beautiful in their own right. I prefer taking unposed, authentic photos of these little ones. They’re lovely as they are, sleeping in mom’s arms or seeing dad’s look on his face as he gazes at his pride and joy.
I love this method. What you can expect from your newborn photo shoot is: A comfortable atmosphere. My number one goal is to make the session feel cozy, warm, and enjoyable. Otherwise, why bother, am I right?
Photos of baby alone. We’ll have photos of your baby on their back, side, and tummy. (Some babies may be fussy which can be normal and not something to worry about. We go with the flow).
Photos of siblings and baby (if applicable). This is always fun because catching the reactions of the sibling/s is so special! Don’t worry if the sibling is too young to hold the baby as there are many ways to take these photos. Such as laying next to baby, laying baby in front of the child, having a parent hold the baby while the sibling tickles baby’s toes or kisses the forehead. There are SO many options, and we work quickly as they can sometimes lose interest! (Which is normal).
Family photos. These are pretty self explanatory. :)
Photos of mom/dad with baby. This works well at the end of the session, because sometimes a parent may need to entertain the older child who is probably pretty wiggly by this time. Having a non-sticky snack can be helpful during this time.
If you’d like to capture your newborn’s first weeks (up to 3 months) of life please book a session through the link below.
